Meet the Keds College Ambassadors: How do you do, Lindsay?
posted under on September 13th, 2011The Keds How Do You Do? Tour may be over, but we want to continue introducing you to the amazing campus ambassadors that made the program such a success. A few weeks ago you met Olivia, the Keds campus ambassador from University of Texas at Austin. Today, we’re heading out to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder, Colorado. We’re so excited to introduce you to Lindsay Lou Groninger, our University of Colorado at Boulder campus ambassador!
Hometown: Littleton, CO
Why did you choose to be a Keds Campus Ambassador?
Because I love Keds! I grew up wearing Keds (being an east coaster for 7 years) & they’re just… cute.
What inspires you?
Theatre. A group of people working to imitate a situation that is so real and can portray such true emotions that inspire millions of people to join that specific show’s cause, be it AIDS, suicide, Gay Rights, etc.
What’s your favorite pair of Keds?
My baby blue and white patterned ones I don’t know what they’re called because I can’t find them for the life of me anywhere.. but they’re absolutely adorable.
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
My favorite vacations are the bicycling trips my whole family takes in select parts of Europe (heyyy bike short tans are cool, right?)
How do you do your city?
Boulder – farmers markets! Period. Best fresh salsa ever. And great wood pieces too!
How do you do art?
Art to me is someone’s passion being portrayed through some form of expression- is it painting, graffiti, modern dance? Is it some wacked out performance piece that no one will understand? What I love about art is as strange as it can seem there will absolutely be one person that can relate to it.
How do you do charity?
Make A Wish. I do a lot of work with them through my sorority & have found it so inspiring to work with these kids who are so positive.
How do you do your school?
I love CU Boulder because it is how a University should be. Your opinion is valued, student life is active and diverse, the campus is gorgeous, and professor’s are quacky and ridiculous (exactly as they should be). The best way to do Boulder is to keep your head up while you’re walking, so you can enjoy and take in the different kinds of people walking around.
How do you do style?
I wear my Keds… with everything. Sun dresses, shorts, skirts, jeans, swim suits, etc. Literally they’re so worn out I’m currently shopping online for new ones.
What was your favorite part of the tour?
My favorite part of the tour was getting to work with my wonderful partner, Molly! She is a year younger than me at CU and we are in different majors, so we would have never gotten to meet if it weren’t for Keds. We had so much fun putting together the event, talking to lectures about Keds, and brainstorming fun marketing ideas that would be applicable to the typical Boulder student.
The Limited Edition NYC shoes have arrived!
posted under on August 30th, 2011How do you do New York City? In the Limited Edition NYC Champions, of course!
Hit the streets in these NYC-inspired slip ons and loafers. A Keds.com exclusive, the Women’s canvas sneakers mix a little bit of metal into our classic champion silhouette. For all those guys out there, these leather slip ons mix a little bit of prep with a whole lot of attitude.
And don’t forget, a portion of the proceeds will go to Free Arts NYC, our charity partner from the How Do You Do? Keds nationwide tour. Free Arts NYC, provides under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential.
Meet the Keds College Ambassadors: How do you do, Olivia?
posted under on August 1st, 2011The Keds How Do You Do? Tour may be over, but we want to continue introducing you to the amazing campus ambassadors that made the program such a success. Last week you met Danielle, the Keds campus ambassador from Savannah College of Art and Design. Today, we’re heading West to Austin, Texas. We’re so excited to introduce you to Olivia Bouree, our University of Texas at Austin campus ambassador!
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Why did you choose to be a Keds Canvas Ambassador?
I knew being a Keds Canvas Ambassador would give me great experience in so many ways. I wanted to learn more about marketing, reaching out to large groups of people, creating events and getting people excited about a brand. It was an experience that I enjoyed so much and didn’t even realize how much I was learning.
What inspires you?
Anyone I see taking an active role for what they believe in. That always inspires me to push myself further.
What’s your favorite pair of Keds?
Currently, it’s the “Champion Austin”, and not just because I go to school there! They’re perfect for spring and have a feminine touch.
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
My most embarrassing moment is the many times during my youth that I wandered off in the grocery store, only to have a cashier call my name over the intercom, letting the whole store know that my mother was waiting for me at aisle 6.
How do you do your city?
I really love this little cluster of restaurants at a random intersection in Hyde Park, especially Hyde Park Grill and Dolce Vita. Some of the best food and gelato I’ve ever had.
How do you do art?
Art is anything and everything that moves you. It’s everywhere! From my favorite painting, “The Ballet Class”, by Degas, to random graffiti on The Drag in Austin, to my baby Nephew’s drawing of a rainbow.
How do you do charity?
The Ronald McDonald House Charities, who provide families resources and homes so that they can keep their child healthy and happy. There’s one about 10 minutes away from where I live in Austin!
How do you do your school?
I love the spirit that the University of Texas has. During football season, tailgates, pep rallies… you name it. People go crazy here for burnt orange. It’s a cool feeling to be rooting for the same team as 40,000+ of your peers. If you go here, you’re automatically part of a community. No matter where you’re from or what you do, we all have one thing in common: Texas Pride!
How do you do style?
Denim shorts and flowy summer skirts is what I’ve been pairing them with lately.
What was your favorite part of the tour?
My favorite part of the tour was gaining the experience to pull something like the tour off. Also, pushing myself outside of my comfort zone.

Why did you choose to be a Keds Canvas Ambassador?
I have always had a passion for shoes and grew up loving and wearing Keds!
What inspires you?
Travel, music, and my family inspire me. Each one of those things presents new and exciting challenges every day.
What’s your favorite pair of Keds?
My fave pair are the original canvas in white!
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
I love ketchup and will eat it with absolutely anything!
How do you do your city?
I consider my city Savannah, as that is where I have spent the most time in the last few years and its best-kept secret… sweet potato fries with a sweet cinnamon dipping sauce!
How do you do art?
Ever since I lived in Florence, Italy, renaissance art has become my favorite! The meaning and stories behind the work truly captivates me.
How do you do charity?
Breast Cancer awareness is something near and dear to my heart. I try and involve myself in all charities pertaining to it.
How do you do your school?
What I love about SCAD is that everyone is unique and find original and creative ways of expressing themselves.
How do you do style?
My style is all over the place! As a fashion major keeping up with the trends is key and Keds manage to fit in with all types of styles!
What was your favorite part of the tour?
My favorite part of the tour was interacting with the guests that attended the event and getting to hear their personal Keds stories.
Meet the Keds College Ambassadors: How do you do, Ellen?
posted under on July 7th, 2011The Keds How Do You Do? Tour may be over, but we want to continue introducing you to the amazing campus ambassadors that made the program such a success. Last week you met Emily, the Keds campus ambassador from sunny California. Today, we’re heading cross country to the city that never sleeps: New York. Meet Ellen Sea, the Keds ambassador from Pace University!
Hometown: Lowell, Massachusetts
School: Pace University – NYC
Why did you choose to be a Keds Canvas Ambassador?
I’m a big fan of Keds and their classic styles. However, I loved the fact that Keds were encouraged creativity all around by giving spotlights to local artists and raising money for local art charities with the HDYD Tour.
What inspires you?
People who are driven inspire me. Everyone who live in NYC has that mentality of trying to reach goals they set for themselves. You can’t help it but get yourself moving in that direction as well.
What’s your favorite pair of Keds?
As of late, I’ve been rocking my Champion Mini Stripe Jersey. They are so comfy!
Tell us something interesting about yourself:
I went on a Euro-backpacking trip last summer with my friend for 36 days. The highlights of the trip were seeing my friends in Paris, visiting Einstein’s apartment in Bern, sleeping outside a train station in Zurich, seeing the Pope speak in Rome, being stuck on a ship from Venice to Patras, Greece for 33+ hours, climbing up 999 steps to reach a castle in Nafplio, living out of hostels, and making it back home to the United States alive. It was definitely a trip to remember!
How do you do your city?
There are so many free events in NYC! We have a lot of free summer concerts and unique events such as the annual Bubble Fight!
How do you do art?
Art is anything I find creative. It can be anything from music, a mural, clothes, or a poem. If I can connect with it somehow, then its a form of art to me.
How do you do charity?
Free Arts NYC was the local charity we partnered up with in NYC. It is an organization that provides under-served children and families an arts program and essentially giving them a space where they can get their creative juices flowing.
How do you do your school?
I’ve met some great professors and faculty members that were very supportive of me. They’ll always be part of my Pace memories.
How do you do style?
Ever since summer arrived, I’ve been pairing my Keds with my summer dresses. They’re so versatile that I can pair them with any outfit.
What was your favorite part of the HDYD tour?
My favorite part of the tour was definitely actually having the event in Union Sq. with the local musicians and artists performing. We had our charity partner on-site promoting the arts and the event was such a fun, creative fest! You can’t help but get inspired.
Meet the Keds College Ambassadors: How do you do, Emily?
posted under on June 30th, 2011Not so long ago, we were driving across the country looking for inspiration, innovation and style at college campuses. Although the tour itself has come to an end, our appreciation to our Keds’ College Ambassadors is still alive.
Throughout the summer, we will be introducing a different college ambassador each week who helped make the Keds How Do You Do? tour such a success.
First stop from sunny California is UCLA ambassador Emily McManus!
Hometown: Fresno, CA
School: UCLA
Why did you choose to be a Keds Canvas Ambassador? Navid (Keds’ other UCLA college ambassador) called me up to tell me about the opportunity and it sounded like a great way to practice some marketing and PR skills. Plus, I love Keds!
What inspires you? The world around me inspires me! There’s so many awesome people and places to meet and explore – this gives me the excitement and inspiration to go out and do great things!
What’s your favorite pair of Keds? I love the original Champion, I guess I’m just a classic sort of girl.
Tell us something interesting about yourself: I can make really realistic sounding dolphin clicks!
How do you do your city? Los Angeles is so much more than the flashy celebrity culture. I love getting out of the smog and going on a hike up the hills to get amazing views of the city.
How do you do art? Art is in the eye of the beholder – it can be anything at all! As long as one person finds something that speaks to them or that they find visually appealing it can be art to them.
How do you do charity? During my four years at UCLA, I have been really involved with charities that help people infected or affected by Pediatric AIDS that include Project Kindle, One Heartland and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
How do you do your school? I love that UCLA is full of smiling people who love to be where I love to be. The school spirit on our campus is amazing and you can wear flip flops all year round!
How do you do style (What do you wear your Keds with)? I like to wear my Keds with a summer dress or shorts and a cute top. They look good with everything though!
What was your favorite part of the Keds How Do You Do Tour? My favorite part of the Keds tour was meeting so many creative people! Between the fashionable models and stylists at Bloomingdales and the incredibly kind Keds and Mr. Youth representatives, I was able to immerse myself in a new culture of fun, spiffy people and some awesome shoes!
